Know More: "SECRET SERVICE": American Presidential Security Unit


The Secret Service is one law enforcement agency in America that are part of the Department of Homeland Security which was established in July 5, 1865 in Washington DC.

Duties and authority of the SECRET SERVICE :
1. Prevention and investigation of counterfeiting American currency is the Dollar, as well as securities fraud investigation of the state or U.S. Teasury Bond.
 
2.Make protection and security of the President, Vice President, Former President and Vice President and their families as well as securing the state guest.

In more detail again the Secret Service protection duties include:1.Presiden, Vice President and Secretary President and his family.2.A former president and family up to 10 years after the term of office ends3.A child of former presidents get protection until the age of 16 years4.A former vice presidents and their families up to six months after his term ended.5. And vice presidential candidates during the 120 days during the presidential and vice presidential candidacy.6. Another individual who received a special assignment from the president
Units of the Secret Service has a very large role, especially regarding the security of the United States. The number of members of the Secret Service is 4400 people who have sworn to protect the President from various threats, including the expense of his life if necessary. The Secret Service became a crucial role because the American President over time are the target of death threats.
Since the '60s has happened a few times assassination attempt against the President of the American general expenses such as President John F. Kennedy, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, and George W. Ford President Bush was not hurt, although two times received assault. President Reagan survived though seriously wounded after the attack, while President Kennedy was killed in the attack. President Bush is also wounded by hand grenades thrown into the podium when he was speaking, although the grenade failed to explode, including escape from the shoe throwing incident by Iraqi journalists..

Standard armament of the Secret Service is the SIG Sauer P229 pistol chambered for the .357 pistol cartridge SIG, Remington 870 shotgun, the M4 carbine, the IMI Uzi, and the HK MP5 (including MP5KA4) submachine guns and Lain2. They are also equipped with sophisticated communication equipment for communication between members in the field.
